Telmisartan/ Telmisartan+Chlorthalidone
Telnic is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (ARB) used in the management of hypertension. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems. Telnic belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow more easily. The medicine works by reducing the risk of strokes and myocardial infarction (heart attack), thereby treating hypertension (high blood pressure).
Telnic CT is a combination of Telmisartan+Chlorthalidone that helps keep the blood pressure under control. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body and relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
COMPOSITION:
Telnic : Telmisartan 20mg/40mg/80mg Tablet,
Telnic CT: Telmisartan 40mg + Chlorthalidone 12.5mg IR Tablet
MODE OF ACTION:
Telnic is a benzimidazole derivative and a non-peptide angiotensin II receptor antagonist with antihypertensive property. Telnic selectively antagonizes angiotensin II binding to the AT1 subtype receptor, located in vascular smooth muscle and adrenal gland. The antagonism results in vasodilation and inhibits the angiotensin II-mediated aldosterone production, which in turn leading to a decrease in sodium and water as well as an increase in potassium excretion leading to a subsequent reduction in blood pressure. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow.
