Rifaximin
Rifabiz (Rifaximin), a non-absorbable semi-synthetic antibiotic used to treat traveler’s diarrhea, irritable bowel syndrome, and hepatic encephalopathy. It is broad spectrum antibiotics (gram-positive & gram-negative bacteria, and aerobes & anaerobes). It acts only in GI tract & thus low systemic toxicity.
COMPOSITION:
Rifaximin (200mg/400mg/550mg)
MODE OF ACTION:
Rifaximin is an antibacterial drug that is reported to inhibit bacterial DNA-dependent RNA and polymerase thereby resulting in inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis and consequently inhibition of the growth of bacteria.
INDICATIONS
- Traveler’s Diarrhea
- Hepatic Encephalopathy
- Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO)
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome
- Infectious Diarrhea
Dosage
1-2 Tablets per day
