Liposomal Ferric Pyrophosphate
Iron delivery via liposomes is a promising approach to treat anemia effectively. Liposomes are one of the effective drug carrier systems which potentially deliver different therapeutic substances to specific molecular targets. Their biocompatibility, biodegradability and low toxicity make them suitable for delivering drugs. Geroz-LP a brand of ferric pyrophosphate that uses liposomal technology (i.e. micronized iron is incorporated into a phospholipid membrane, a sort of protective “shell”) and as compared to other traditional oral formulations, liposomal technology protects iron from drug interactions, allows better gastrointestinal absorption, results in higher bioavailability of the iron with lower incidence of side effects
COMPOSITION:
Liposomal Ferric Pyrophosphate 30mg + Vitamin C 50 mg + Vitamin B12 0.75 mcg + Folic acid 200 mcg
MODE OF ACTION:
Geroz-Lp is micronized and microencapsulated liposomal ferric pyrophosphate. It passes through the stomach undamaged and unaltered not exposing any iron to the gut environment and reaches the intestinal lumen intact. Geroz-Lp is directly accepted/engulfed into the lipid bilayer of the intestinal mucosa cell wall due to the phospholipid structure. The microencapsulated ferric pyrophosphate is thus directly available in the cell to be further transported
