Anidulafungin

DULAFIX (anidulafungin) is a sterile, lyophilized intravenous (IV) infusion.

Anidulafungin is a semi-synthetic lipopeptide synthesized from a fermentation product of Aspergillus nidulans. Anidulafungin is an echinocandin, a class of antifungal drugs that inhibit the synthesis of 1,3-β-D-glucan, an essential component of fungal cell walls.  Anidulafungin (Vicuron Pharmaceuticals) is a new echinocandin antifungal with potent activity against Aspergillus and Candida spp. Anidulafungin is a noncompetitive inhibitor of (1,3)-β-D-glucan synthase within fungal cells

Broad spectrum antifungal with potent activity against Aspergillus & Candida. The drug is rapidly distributed and steady-state concentrations are achieved after the first dose, when a loading dose of twice the daily maintenance dose is given on day 1. Drug biotransformation occurs via chemical degradation, with no hepatic metabolism or renal elimination

Therapy Area: Antifungal
Form: Vial Injection
Packaging: 1X1Vial

COMPOSITION:

Anidulafungin 100 mg

MODE OF ACTION:

Anidulafungin is a semi-synthetic echinocandin with antifungal activity. Anidulafungin inhibitsglucan synthase, an enzyme present in fungal, but not mammalian cells. This results in inhibition of the formation of 1,3-β-D-glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall.

Anidulafungin selectively inhibits 1,3-β-D glucan synthase, an enzyme present in fungal, but not mammalian cells. This results in inhibition of the formation of 1,3--D-glucan, an essential component of the fungal cell wall. Anidulafungin has shown fungicidal activity against Candida species and activity against regions of active cell growth of the hyphae of Aspergillus fumigatus.
