Citicoline, Piracetam

Citialfa – P is a nutritional supplement and source of choline and cytidine with potential neuroprotective and nootropic activity. Citicoline, also known as cytidine-5-diphosphocholine or CDP-choline, is hydrolyzed into cytidine and choline in the intestine. Following absorption, both cytidine and choline are dispersed, utilized in various biosynthesis pathways, and cross the blood-brain barrier for resynthesise into citicoline in the brain, which is the rate-limiting product in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine.

Piracetam is a nootropic drug in the racetams group, with chemical name 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidine acetamide. It shares the same 2-oxo-pyrrolidone base structure with pyroglutamic acid and is a cyclic derivative of the neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

Therapy Area: Stroke
Form: Tablet
Packaging: 10 x10Tablet

COMPOSITION:

Citialfa 500mg + Piracetam 400mg

MODE OF ACTION:

Citicoline has therapeutic effects at several stages of the ischemic cascade in acute ischemic stroke. First, it stabilizes cell membranes by increasing phosphatidylcholine and sphingomyelin synthesis and by inhibiting the release of free fatty acids. By protecting membranes, citicoline inhibits glutamate release during ischemia.

Piracetam increase compromised regional cerebral blood flow and oxygen utilization in brain, and permeability of cell and mitochondrial membrane to intermediates of the Krebs cycle. Piracetam has been found to exert neuroprotective action and offer protection from brain neuron death or cell damage. It presents antioxidative antiapoptotic activity and may restore altered neuronal morphology and decrease neuronal density
