Ferric Maltol + Vitamin C + Vitamin B12 + Folic acid + Vitamin D2

Ferric Maltol is a novel, non-salt-based oral treatment for iron deficiency (ID) and iron deficiency anemia (IDA) in adults. Its unique ferric (Fe3+) maltol complex optimizes iron absorption while minimizing gastrointestinal side effects common with traditional ferrous salt supplements. Approved by European Medicines Agency (EMA), SwissMedic, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Ferric Maltol effectively treats ID, even in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and chronic kidney disease (CKD) where traditional oral iron often fails due to poor absorption and tolerability. Its stable formulation enhances bioavailability and reduces side effects, offering a promising alternative.

As a well-tolerated oral iron replacement, Ferric Maltol provides an alternative to IV iron for those intolerant to other oral forms, improving patient compliance and outcomes in addressing global iron deficiency.

Therapy Area: LifeCare Medicine
Form: Capsule
Packaging: 3 x 10 N Capsules

COMPOSITION:

Ferric maltol 29mg + Vitamin C 65mg + Vitamin B12 2.2mcg + Folic acid 129 mcg + Vitamin D2 600 IU Capsule

MODE OF ACTION:

Ferric Maltol works by stabilizing iron in its ferric (Fe3+) state, complexed with maltol. This stable formulation prevents the dissociation of iron in the stomach, unlike ferrous salts, which can cause gastrointestinal irritation. After ingestion, the ferric maltol complex remains intact until it reaches the small intestine, where the iron is released and absorbed. The absorbed iron then binds to transferrin, a protein that transports it to the bone marrow and other tissues for red blood cell production.

Any unabsorbed Ferric Maltol passes through the digestive tract without dissociating into free iron, preventing irritation and discomfort, and is excreted in the faeces. This unique mechanism makes Ferric Maltol a well-tolerated, low-dose oral therapy for iron deficiency and anemia, offering a convenient alternative to traditional oral or intravenous iron treatments.

Vitamin C enhances iron absorption and supports immune function and collagen synthesis.

Vitamins D, B12, Folic Acid work synergistically to promote bone health, cognitive function, and red blood cell formation.
