Clobetasol Propionate shows anti- Inflammatory, antipruritic & vasoconstrictive properties also offers a balanced efficacy & Longer duration of action. Salicylic acid show effective keratolytic effect & softens the skin also enhances the absorption of Clobetasol in the skin.
COMPOSITION:
Clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w ointment/ clobetasol propionate 0.05% w/w + Salicylic acid 6% w/w
MODE OF ACTION:
Clobetasol propionate exerts its effect by binding to cytoplasmic glucocorticoid receptors and subsequently activates glucocorticoid receptor mediated gene expression. This results in synthesis of certain anti-inflammatory proteins, while inhibiting the synthesis of certain inflammatory mediators.
Salicylic acid is keratolytic by lowering the pH of the skin, resulting in increased hydration of the keratin and swelling of the coenocytes. It also solubilizes the intercellular cement substance in the stratum corneum, facilitating desquamation.
