Sodium alginate, Calcium carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate
Instart contains Sodium alginate, Calcium carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate. Sodium alginate, Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate are antacids that reduce acid production in the stomach. Sodium alginate is used to relieve symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease. When combined with acid, sodium alginate precipitates and forms a gel form.
Instart – Each 5 ml contains Sodium alginate 250 mg, Sodium bicarbonate 133.5mg Calcium carbonate 80 mg
Instart Chewable Tablet – Sodium Alginate 250mg Sodium Bicarbonate 106.5mg Calcium carbonate 187.5mg
Instart XT (double strength) – Sodium alginate 1000 mg Potassium hydrogen carbonate 200 mg
MODE OF ACTION:
Sodium alginate: Sodium alginate forms a viscous gel by reacting with stomach acid. This gel floats on the surface of stomach contents and acts as a blockade to reduce the reflux.
Calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate: Both are antacids; and work by decreasing the amount of acid in the stomach.
In INSTART XT – Potassium hydrogen carbonate neutralizes gastric acid.
