Ceftazidime + Tobramycin
Ceftazidime is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic useful for the treatment of a number of bacterial infections. Tobramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic derived from Streptomyces tenebrarius.
Used to treat various types of bacterial infections, particularly Gram-negative infections. It is especially effective against species of Pseudomonas. First line therapy for treatment of Melioidosis. It has broad coverage & has synergistic bactericidal effect.
COMPOSITION:
Ceftazidime 1 g + Tobramycin 120 mg Injection
MODE OF ACTION:
Ceftazidime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to one or more of the penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs). Inhibit the final transpeptidation step of peptidoglycan synthesis in bacterial cell walls
Tobramycin is taken up into sensitive bacterial cells where it irreversibly binds primarily to the 30S ribosomal subunit. Inhibiting protein synthesis and generating errors in the transcription of the genetic code.
